What This Is

Story1st.org is a simple place for developing meaningful stories from photographs, spoken recollections, shared context, and the emotional texture that makes ordinary moments worth remembering.

The goal is not to create a complicated genealogy database, a fast-moving social feed, or a permanent archive. The goal is to help people develop real stories in a form that can later be printed, shared, or moved to a long-term archive such as permanent.org.

Story1st is for stories that are likely to matter years from now, not just tomorrow.

Story Groups

Story1st organizes stories into Story Groups: natural circles of people who would normally want to read, preserve, share, and sometimes contribute to many of the same stories together.

Story Groups are usually shared by direct link from a group steward or caretaker. They do not need to be listed publicly from the main landing page.

A Story Group might be siblings who grew up together, a household or marriage, longtime friends, a military unit, a creative community, a church or civic group, or another shared circle of memory and experience.

The key idea is simple: people within a Story Group would naturally want to read stories from other members of that group.

Start or Join a Story Group

Use Story1st to request a new Story Group, join an existing Story Group, or continue from an invitation sent by a group steward.

If you create a new Story Group, you become that group’s steward: the person who helps care for the group, receives activity notices, and can invite storytellers into the group.
